Géostar
Since its founding, Géostar has established itself as a Quebec benchmark in soil studies, geotechnics, and environmental analysis.
Based in Brownsburg-Chatham, the company puts its scientific and technical expertise at the service of developers, contractors, institutions, and municipalities across Quebec.
Our mission is simple: analyze, understand, and protect the soil on which we build.
Because every site has its own characteristics, our studies and analyses make it possible to assess its stability, composition, and compliance, ensuring safety, durability, and respect for environmental standards.

A scientific and rigorous approach
At Géostar, every study is built on a rigorous methodology and high quality standards.
Our experts — geologists, engineers, and specialized technicians — perform thorough analyses to assess the composition, stability, and health of the soil before any project.
Through modern tools and proven protocols, we deliver reliable and reproducible results, essential for decision-making in construction, development, or environmental remediation.
Synergy within Groupe G²N Inc.
Géostar is part of Groupe G²N Inc., a network of Quebec-based companies dedicated to the science of the environment and quality of the living environment.
In collaboration with Laboratoire Notreau (water and air analysis) and GMT Lab (soil and materials analysis), we form a complete, integrated chain of expertise.
This synergy allows us to deliver a comprehensive view of environmental quality, from soil to air, including water and construction materials.
Values rooted in science and sustainability
We believe it is possible to build while respecting nature.
Our approach rests on three pillars: precision, prevention, and environmental responsibility.
By understanding the nature of the soil, we help protect ecosystems and ensure the long-term durability of human infrastructure.
Every project we deliver aims to build a safer, healthier, more sustainable territory for future generations.

Evolution of our companies
Groupe G²N Inc., Géostar, Notreau, GMT Lab
Founded in 1999 by Mrs. Susie Léger, a geologist by training, Geostar inc. first set up its offices in the former chapel at 207 Principal Street in Brownsburg-Chatham. The team, then made up of three employees, specialized in drinking water potability analysis for the surrounding municipalities and for residents of the region. A few years later, the company expanded its offering by adding soil testing services for septic installations for individual homeowners.
In 2006, Mrs. Léger, her son Mr. Ian Ménard and their associate Mrs. Guylaine Tardif founded Laboratoire Notreau, marking the opening of the air quality analysis department at 216 Principal Street in Brownsburg-Chatham.
In 2023, Mrs. Léger and her son, Mr. Ian Ménard, founded GMT LAB and partnered with Mrs. Sarah Brodhead, Mrs. Liubov Zhuravleva and Mr. Benoît Charlebois to establish an independent laboratory specialized in geotechnics and materials testing. That same year, Geostar moved to 224 Principal Street in Brownsburg-Chatham, and GMT LAB set up its laboratory in the basement of the same building.
The year 2025 marks a major turning point: Mrs. Léger retires and her son, Mr. Ian Ménard, is elected president of the three companies. They are then brought together, giving rise to Groupe G²N inc. Mrs. Elyane Breton, who was already working at Geostar, is appointed general manager and joins the group as a partner.
Today, Groupe G²N Inc. is a Quebec-wide reference for water, air and soil analysis. Bringing together Laboratoire Notreau, Géostar and GMT Lab under one banner, the Group forms an integrated network of experts offering a comprehensive environmental approach focused on sustainability, compliance and the quality of service provided to its clients.
